Actually, the problem is not Mahathir. As a kleptocrat, it is quite normal for Mahathir to rob the country. It is what kleptocrats like Mahathir do, they rob the country. The problem is Pakatan Harapan. Pakatan Harapan is acting like the three monkeys just so that they can grab power. And Pakatan Harapan will do anything, principled or otherwise, to grab power.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

The phrase ‘see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil’ first emerged in Japan in the 17th century and has since been adopted as the metaphor of the three monkeys — with one of them covering his eyes, the second his mouth, and the third his ears. In short, this is what Malays would call ‘buat bodoh’ or pretend you are not aware of what is going on.

When you do not support the Pakatan Harapan people, everything you do is wrong, even when you are right. When you support the Pakatan Harapan people, everything you do is right, even when you are wrong. That is the simple doctrine that Pakatan Harapan people live by.

There was a time when Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was ‘Mahazalim’, ‘Mahafiruan’, ‘Mamak Bendahara’, ‘One of the Top Ten Enemies of the Press’, ‘Mister Ten Percent’, etc. The opposition promised Malaysians that the first thing they will do if they ever come to power is they are going to make sure that Mahathir goes to jail for all the crimes he committed as Prime Minister.

Ezam said he has six boxes of Mahathir’s corrupt acts

For years since 1998, Mohamad Ezam Mohd Nor travelled all over Malaysia to announce that they have six boxes (6 kotak) of evidence of Mahathir’s corrupt acts, which they will use to put Mahathir in jail once the opposition grabs power. Ten years later, on 30th December 2008, Ezam announced that the six boxes are actually in Anwar Ibrahim’s possession. So, until today, 20 years later, they still insist that the six boxes exist.

In 2008, Ezam said the six boxes are now in Anwar’s possession

For 20 years, Malaysians were told that Mahathir is a kleptocrat or thief and that they have enough evidence to prove it and to make sure that Mahathir goes to jail for a very long time. Today, they tell us if Pakatan Harapan wins the next general election, instead of using those six boxes of evidence to send Mahathir to jail, they are going to make him the Prime Minister. And Mahathir announced he will be Prime Minister for at least two years, which means until 2020.

What will happen in two years? By then, Anwar should already have been released from jail and should have received his Royal Pardon. If by 2020 Anwar has still not received his Royal Pardon, then he can only become Prime Minister in 2023, which means after GE15 or two general elections from now.

The only way for Mahathir and his family to be safe would be for Mukhriz to take over as Prime Minister in 2020 once Mahathir steps down — if Mahathir does become Prime Minister after GE14

What is going to happen in 2020 once Mahathir steps down, if he steps down in two years as he said he would, and if Anwar has not received his Royal Pardon by then? That would mean either Mahathir cannot step down yet or else someone has to take over as the Prime Minister from 2020 until GE15 in 2023 (because Anwar cannot become Prime Minister until after GE15 in 2023).

Okay, that brings us back to the six boxes of evidence of Mahathir’s corrupt acts. Are those six boxes still going to be used to put Mahathir in jail for a very long time, as what they have promised us over the last 20 years since 1998, or is that plan now no longer on the table?

Those six boxes are like the Sword of Damocles suspended over Mahathir’s head. Mahathir knows if he does not become Prime Minister, in the event Pakatan Harapan wins the coming general election, then he is in trouble. And if he steps down in 2020 after just two years as Malaysia’s seventh Prime Minister and Anwar takes over, he is still in trouble. The only way he and his children can stay out of jail is for Mukhriz to take over as Prime Minister in 2020. And Mukhriz cannot take over as Prime Minister unless Mahathir is first of all the Prime Minister.

More importantly, if he does not become the Prime Minister, there is no way he can induce his trustees, proxies, nominees and cronies to hand back the RM100 billion they are holding in their names. That is a more overriding consideration. A retired Mahathir has no teeth so why should his trustees, proxies, nominees and cronies hand back the RM100 billion they are holding in their names?

The six boxes of evidence of Mahathir’s corrupt acts are like the Sword of Damocles suspended over Mahathir’s head

Mokhzani Mahathir is trying to pre-empt a possible backlash against his family after the coming general election by denying that he abused his power to become of the top ten billionaires in Malaysia and LSS replied to this (SEE BELOW).

Anyway, the point is, the issue of Mokhzani becoming a billionaire was a big issue for the opposition at one time. Today, Pakatan Harapan no longer wants to talk about it. They are telling us that was the old Mahathir. The old Mahathir was a kleptocrat while the new Mahathir has changed and now fights for Reformasi.

April 2001 – Mokhzani Mahathir sells off Pantai Holdings and Tongkah Holdings and announced his withdrawal from the corporate world.

The decision was made as the prime minister’s son was disappointed with the allegations made by irresponsible groups who tarnished his name and that of his father, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“Lately there have been many wild allegations linking me with government projects or mega projects which are not true and I feel this is an irresponsible move to tarnish my name and that of my father’s,” he told Bernama.

Mokhzani also said that his decision to withdraw from the corporate world by selling his entire direct and indirect interests in companies listed on the KLSE was not because he was sulking.

“I am not sulking. Who would want to sulk. To say that I am sulking from the corporate world is not correct,” he said.

Late 2001 – Despite his emotional public announcement of his withdrawal from the corporate world months earlier, he sets up Kencana Capital in 2001 with a capital of RM30 million.

Kencana then enters the oil and gas business by taking over a small fabrication yard of 11 acres and rebranding it as Kencana Petroleum and, within months, was awarded a major fabrication (offshore structures) license by Petronas

November 2003 – Mahathir is appointed as Petronas advisor immediately after he retired as Prime Minister.

Mid-2011 – Kencana Petroleum, now valued at RM6 billion, merges with Sapura Petroleum to form SapuraKencana. Mokhzani is group CEO.
